Why choose Asbestos Aware NZ?
An online asbestos awareness course provides a low cost and highly convenient e-learning platform, written by experienced industry professionals. There is also no need to lose crucial team members for full day courses at a training location.
Is it all online?
We now offer both online and classroom group based courses.
Who should sit the course?
These courses have been designed for anyone who may come into contact with asbestos at work (commercial) or in the home (residential), with a informative course aimed towards each group.
*Note, workers who plan to carry out work that will disturb asbestos require a higher level of training which is not supplied by this course. This training does not allow you to work with asbestos-containing materials. If this is the level of training you need, then it's necessary to attend a course with practical demonstrations of control measures and personal protective equipment (such as BOHS PCerts or the NZQA standard courses).
How long is the certificate valid for?
Based on industry best practice guidelines, the recommended renewal period for this training is 1 year. We will print this recommended renewal date on your certificate.
How much does it cost?
Standard Online Asbestos Awareness is $75 and Online Asbestos Awareness Plus is $85 per/course.

How long does it take to complete the course once started?
The standard online asbestos awareness course should take between 45 and 90 minutes once started and the asbestos awareness plus course should take between 60 and 120 minutes (this can vary based on previous experience).
The classroom based course typically takes between 2 and 3 hours. This can vary depending on the specific requirements of those attending.
Who are the courses suitable for?
Asbestos awareness training is intended to give workers, supervisors and homeowners the information they need to avoid work that may disturb asbestos. This is during any normal work which could disturb the fabric of a building, or other item which might contain asbestos. It will not prepare workers, or self-employed contractors, to carry out work with asbestos-containing materials. If a worker is planning to carry out work that will disturb ACM's, further information, instruction and training will be needed.
